Rachel Cruze is a force to be reckoned with. Vibrant and straight to the point, Rachel Cruze is probably most famous for being the daughter of Dave Ramsey. Like her father, Rachel Cruze specializes on the subject of personal finance. Rachel has her own show called The Rachel Cruze Show, under the family network of Ramsey Solutions.
The young mom with three kids, is also a New York Times best-selling author of several books, including “Love Your Life Not Theirs.” Teaching personal finance is Rachel’s passion. And she does it well. She wants to help people get out of debt.
“Nothing is worth going into debt for. It is possible to live an amazing life debt free,” Rachel said. “Along with that… It’s ok to have nice stuff. Just don’t let your nice stuff have you. Sometimes I even have to remind myself when contemplating buying something, “If no one else sees it, do I still want it?” It’s a good reminder and reality check.”
Growing up with her dad, Dave Ramsey, Rachel learned how to live debt-free. Being debt-free is one of the biggest components of Ramsey Solutions. They believe that living debt-free is a major key to financial freedom in one’s personal finances. Rachel believes she has a unique perspective, and doesn’t feel the pressure to be like her father.
“I really don’t feel that pressure. For one thing, he has never put those kinds of expectations on me. Also, I am very comfortable in being me, so I know my life and story will look different than his,” Rachel shared. “We both have a passion to help people control their money versus their money controlling them.”
Rachel brings such a unique, fresh, and feminine perspective to personal finance, so much so, that The Rachel Cruze Show was born.
“I realized I enjoyed creating content on video. Because of that, I bought an old flip camera and a tripod, and started shooting and editing my own videos,” Rachel said. “I started a YouTube channel with those videos, and it just slowly evolved over time to what is now, “The Rachel Cruze Show” on YouTube and now also a podcast.”
Rachel obtained her Bachelor’s in Communications from the University of Tennessee, where she met her husband there. Her communication skills were put to use right away, while working with her dad, speaking at various events.
Her motto to balancing her work life and her home life is simple. “Honestly, I try to be present wherever my feet are,” Rachel said. “So, if I’m at the office, my focus is there. If I’m at home, my attention is on my family.”
When looking on new ways to create content for her audience, she is inspired by the financial struggles of everyday life.
“Handling money can be super stressful and confusing. But it doesn’t have to be,” Rachel said. “My goal is to provide tactical, easy-to-follow advice that can relate to just about anybody.”
Rachel has an exciting new project, where she is collaborating with a fellow Ramsey personality, George Kamel, on a new podcast. “It’s called Smart Money Happy Hour and will be a very laid back and chill conversation about money,” Rachel said. ‘And yes, a cocktail will be involved.”
But there is nothing sweeter to Rachel than spending time with her family. “Family time will always top my list. More specifically, as my kids are getting a little bit older, we have really enjoyed watching them play sports,” Rachel said. “This summer I became a “swim mom” and had so much fun.”
Last but not least, her advice for aspiring influencers is this. “Be genuine and honest,” Rachel said. “Set realistic goals and surround yourself with people who will support you and tell you the truth.”
