Melly Lister always looks like she’s ready to have some fun. With a beautiful smile and a positive attitude, Melly creates with a passion and freshness that is hard to find. With her British husband Mike, they form a fun husband-wife Instagram duo. Based near Toronto, Canada, Melly’s blog features fashion and faith at its core, and it can be very easy to see how much her faith defines her.
“I would probably say my faith is the most important thing to me and what I've learned throughout life is our source, strength and identity are in Christ and Him alone. So, I would say, "We are nothing without God.”” Melly shared.
Melly was born in London, England and moved to Canada when she was three years old. Faith was always a part of her life, but not a part of her heart.
“I grew up in a Christian household but never truly accepted the faith for myself. I always believed in God, but never committed my heart to Him. I went through a series of terrible relationships and heartache and filled my heart with the things of this world that proved absolutely disastrous,” Melly shared.
“At 27, as a broken woman I walked into Hillsong London Church by myself, sat in the back and that day I gave my life to Christ and my world was changed forever. The best decision I have ever made in my life was accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior.”
Finally, Melly met her husband Mike at a mutual friend’s birthday party. After that they started seeing each other at church and got married in 2017.
Blogging sort of just happened and was unplanned initially, but has proven to be a passion that has awakened many dreams.
“After losing my job a few years back I felt the Lord calling me to share my faith more with women,” Melly said. “He gave me the idea to blog about living out my faith. My Instagram account and our YouTube channel were also birthed out of that.”
To expand on helping woman, Melly started The Anchored Heart, to inspire women to be support each other in faith and in love.
“I just want women to know that we have a Savior who loves us unconditionally. A Savior who accepts us as we are and calls us worthy regardless of race, social status, or education,” Melly said. “I want to encourage women to be who God has called them to be; living vessels for Christ. I also want them to know that they have sisters across the world who love them and are running the same race. We are in this together.”
Melly finds different ways to be inspired in her new project, The Anchored Heart. “Being in the Word of God daily is what motivates and inspires me to write and create content.” Melly said. “If God has placed something on my heart, I will write about it and do research around that topic. Drawing from my past experiences and what the Lord has done for me helps as well.” One day, Melly hopes to add a jewelry line to the mix.
Currently, Melly has become passionate about home décor and food. “Since moving into my home, I've loved decorating and it's something I've been quite passionate about. I also love spending time with family, checking out new restaurants and cute cafes.”
Her advice to aspiring bloggers is to, “Be yourself because people can feel and see authenticity. You don't have to be a perfect writer, just start small and grow from there.”
