Chipper is definitely what comes to mind when I hear Lily Van Kirk speak. She always seems bubbly, looks absolutely beautiful and is secretly brilliant. Like her motto in life, she found out what she’s good at, and she does it very well. Lily is a double-edged sword with a modeling career in one hand and a real estate realtor business in the other.
Originally born in California, Lily currently lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her husband Justin. She’s definitely had a globe-trotting experience since childhood.
“I was born in Palo Alto, California and because my mom could not afford to take care of me, I was sent to my grandma and aunts in my mom’s home country, Tonga,” Lily explained. “From about 5 months to almost 5 years old, I was raised by my grandma and my mom’s sisters. Then I moved back in with my mom and dad when I was five in Hawaii. Then I moved to California when I was 10, graduated high school there, and moved to Oklahoma when I was 19 to go to Bible college.
When Lily was in Bible college, she paid for it in full selling cars; which was indicative of one of her many talents. Lily also met the love of her life at Bible school.
“Apparently, he was dared by his basketball team? Or I guess you can say, challenged by his basketball teammates. They told him he was not able to date a girl like me. Not sure what that meant, but my husband knows what he wants and will do whatever it takes to get it.”
Besides her gift in sales, Lily’s burgeoning modeling profile, which includes modeling for The Campbell Agency, is something Lily had never seen herself getting into. As a senior in high school, she won a modeling prize at a senior banquet. But it wasn’t until a photographer asked her to ‘model’ for her in her wedding dress, that Lily started taking it seriously.
Talented and creative, Lily wastes no time in enjoying life to the fullest; and she is smart in setting up her life, in a way that she can accomplish that. “I had a bunch of friends tell me I’d be a good realtor, and then I heard they can make a lot of money. I also did not want to work a 9-to-5 job, because I travel so much,” Lily said. “So, it logically made sense to choose real estate as a long-term career.” She now sells homes in the Tulsa area.
As a busy woman Lily, like everyone else, is trying to figure out how to balance her work and home life. “I’m honestly still trying to master this. It’s hard, when you are self-employed, to not mix home and work together,” Lily said.
“However, what I do find that is helpful for me, is time blocking. I can’t say I follow my time block schedule every day, but I do know that when I do, my days are full of productivity, success, and fulfillment.”
With all that she does, you can’t help but start thinking that Lily is Wonder Woman. Especially when you find out that she is leads middle school girls every week and small groups at her church.
On a final note, her tips for aspiring models or real estate agents are simple. “To aspiring models? Don’t starve yourself. Find out a good workout routine, and eat healthy; and also be nice. Modeling is not about you, it’s about the client,” Lily said. “If you want to be a real estate agent, save up money because the initial costs are expensive if you don’t save it. And once you become a real estate agent, be sure to work every day."
Well be sure to stay posted on Lily— the girl who makes moves and the girl who makes a difference.
