The anticipation of spring in Burlington stirs my soul, filling the air with a familiar thrill. I crave the warmth, the fresh blooms, and the feeling of new life popping up all around. It excites me beyond reason!
There’s just something about those first sunny days of spring that makes everything feel lighter. From strolling under cherry blossoms to enjoying a fresh fruit smoothie on a lakeside patio, here are five ways to make the most of the season in Burlington.
Get active outdoors
With the days getting warmer, it’s the perfect time to start moving outdoors. Take a walk, go for a hike, play some tennis, or ride a bike! One of my favorite spots for a walk is Hidden Valley Park—it feels like stepping into a little forest escape. I also love wandering through Paletta Lakefront Park, daydreaming about living in the historic mansion on the property.
Biking is easy in Burlington, especially with all the parks and bike-friendly lanes throughout the city. Or pick up a tennis racket and play at the Burlington Tennis Club or Aldershot Tennis Club. Their opening dates vary from late April to early May, but you can sign up for memberships now!

Visit the Cherry Blossom Trees Downtown
In late April and early May, the famous cherry blossom trees bloom in Spencer Smith Park, right in the heart of downtown. Cherry blossom season is short but magical! It's the perfect excuse to take a leisurely stroll and soak in the soft pink blooms. It’s one of those simple pleasures that feels so special—and yes, it’s totally Instagram-worthy.
Get a head start on Patio Dining
Patio season officially kicks off on April 15 in Burlington, and I honestly can't wait. There’s just something about those first warmer days—sipping on a fresh smoothie, sharing apps, and soaking up the sunshine—that feels so good. Whether it’s brunch with friends at Pepperwood Bistro or lakeside dining at Isabelle Restaurant & Lounge, Burlington's patio scene is the place to be this spring.
You could also simply take a stroll with a coffee in hand. I love Tribeca Coffee for their butter tart latte or Tamp Coffee for their vanilla latte—both perfect for a casual walk by the lake!

Check out the marina at LaSalle Park
If you didn’t know, Burlington has its very own marina at LaSalle Park. By May 1, the marina opens with its official boat launch, making it the perfect spot to enjoy the spring weather on the water. If you’re into boating, this is your moment. And if not? The park itself is beautiful for a quiet walk, a little bird-watching, or just sitting by the shore and listening to the waves. It’s one of my favorite spots to unwind.
Wander the Royal Botanical Gardens
Canada’s largest botanical garden is right here in Burlington and Hamilton. With over 2,000 acres of nature to explore, the Royal Botanical Gardens are an absolute spring dream. Early blooms like magnolias, tulips, and lilacs bring the gardens to life.
They also host fun seasonal events—like their Easter Brunch at the Rock Garden or a proper afternoon tea at the Tea House at Turner Pavilion. Flowers are one of my favorite things, so wandering these trails, surrounded by blooms, is my kind of perfect spring day.
Spring in Burlington is such a special time—when the city starts to feels fresh and vibrant again. Whether you’re sipping lattes by the lake, wandering through blooming gardens, there are so many little moments to savor. Grab your coffee and walking shoes, and make the most of this beautiful time of year. ||
